I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Florida. My research focuses on the political representation of historically marginalized groups in Latin American democracies, with a particular focus on Brazil.
I am the author of Race, Elections, and Power in Modern Brazil (University of Michigan Press) and Intersectional Institutionalism: How District Magnitude Affects the Representation of Marginalized Groups (under contract, Cambridge University Press), which is co-authored with Patrick Cunha Silva and Andrea Junqueira. My work also appears in journals including Political Research Quarterly, Electoral Studies, Party Politics, and Latin American Research Review, among others.
